From: Elie Wiesel’s Wrenching Lost Version of ‘Night’ Was Scathing Indictment of God and Fellow Jews at forward.com (edited).

And then: “I stopped praying and didn’t speak about God. I was angry at him. I told myself, ‘He does not deserve us praying to him.’ And, really, does he hear prayers? … Why sanctify him? For what? For the suffering he rains on our heads? For Auschwitz and Birkenau? … This time we will not stand as the accused in court before the divine judge. This time we are the judges and he the accused. We are ready. There are a huge number of documents in our indictment file. They are living documents that will shake the foundations of justice.”

Who is this man who wants to settle accounts with God and shake faith to its very roots? The author’s name appears at the top of the first page: Eliezer Wiesel.

As well as the sharp criticism of God, the archived version also included harsh criticism of many Jews who either yielded to temptation or were tempted to believe that nothing bad would befall them. Wiesel settles accounts with those among his people who shut their eyes and ears to what was happening, and blames them for paving the Nazis’ way to committing their horrors. He calls them “false prophets.”

9In all their troubles He was troubled, And the angel of His Presence delivered them. In His love and pity He Himself redeemed them, Raised them, and exalted them All the days of old. 10But they rebelled, and grieved His holy spirit.     Isaiah 63/9-19 Tanakh JPS 1985.

22For as the new heaven and the new earth
Which I will make
Shall endure by My will
—declares the Lord—
So shall your seed and your name endure. (“Israel”)     Isaiah 66/22 Tanakh JPS 1985.

17For behold! I am creating
A new heaven and a new earth;
The former things shall not be remembered,
They shall never come to mind.
18Be glad, then, and rejoice forever
In what I am creating.
For I shall create Jerusalem as a joy,
And her people as a delight;     Isaiah 65/17-18 Tanakh JPS 1985.

Commentary:

Elie Wiesel said in regard to G-d and the Holocaust:

“This time we will not stand as the accused in court before the divine judge. This time we are the judges and he the accused. We are ready. There are a huge number of documents in our indictment file. They are living documents that will shake the foundations of justice.”

Job was also ready to indict G-d. Job demanded an audience with G-d for an explanation on why he as a righteous man who followed all of the Lord’s commandments had so many bad things happening to him.

I am the man described in Isaiah 53 and the L-rd and the person of the Lord’s spirit dwell with me. They are always with me. Many years ago G-d began teaching me matters of creation from his perspective. The unseen realm was always there and then within it G-d created the universe, earth and humanity.

He did it for Himself and for the person of His spirit who is the first person G-d created. They are always together. The person of the spirit is G-d’s constant companion. He is the angel of His Presence sometimes referred to in the Tanakh as His holy spirit.

Wherever G-d’s Presence is so is the angel of His Presence. He is the angel that G-d sent before the Israelites in the Exodus and he is the angel of the covenant of sin forgiveness of the Jewish people sent with Elijah for the great and awesome day of the L-rd.

G-d is quite pleased with creation. It is perfect for creating a heaven of angelic human spirit persons. A new heaven by the addition of a new host of angels. The angels Israel.

“For behold! I am creating A new heaven and a new earth”
“Be glad, then, and rejoice forever
In what I am creating.
For I shall create Jerusalem as a joy,
And her people as a delight”
“And I will rejoice in Jerusalem
And delight in her people.”
“For as the new heaven and the new earth
Which I will make
Shall endure by My will
—declares the Lord—
So shall your seed and your name endure.”

G-d decided to create a new kind of angel and a great host of them. One where He does not create their personalities but angelic persons who are formed as persons by their own actions and self will. Unlike angels we are put through a battleground of choices with our own self will that molds and shapes us as persons.

Angels do not have self will or a battleground of choices to make. Their persons are created and formed by G-d.

G-d knew in the beginning that all men would suffer. The good and the bad. It is what makes our personalities suitable for His purpose of creating a new host of angels.
